Elena Dinissuk Fine Art Artist Statement I invite viewers to explore my work, and see their own realities reflected in my abstract pieces. Landscapes that I see are transformed in my mind, and brought to life on canvas. I believe my abstract works elicit joyful feelings in viewers. For me, painting abstractly is an instinctive process that uncovers wonders: from marine depths and forest wanderings to fantasy scenes. Elena Dinissuk is a self-taught artist, who works out of her home studio in Mississauga, Ontario. Elena has always felt like an artistic soul; she took to painting later in life, is constantly working on perfecting her technique, and pushing her creative boundaries. Elena’s main medium is acrylic, which she likes due to its vibrancy and versatility. Her works are created by using acrylic gel and modeling paste to add opaque and transparent layers, as well as texture, to vague shapes and indistinct lines. Elena describes her style is semiabstract impressionism; she transforms realism by palette knife sometimes softened by brush. Her style is distinct and memorable, with paintings containing movement, flow, and positive energy. Elena enjoys painting by palette knife, and teaches her technique to art schools when invited. Born and raised in Siberia, Russia, Elena moved to Canada in 1998. Here in Canada, she started painting and underwent her journey as an artist. Elena is proud to say that she’s been participating in art shows and exhibits since 2018. Both her landscapes and abstract works have been featured in juried exhibitions. Elena has participated in the prestigious Paint Ontario, at the Lambton Heritage Museum. She later went on to be included in the Impact and Overzealous Juried Shows. Her paintings have been in group gallery shows in Propeller Gallery, Paula White Diamond Gallery, Blue Crow Gallery, Winged Canvas Gallery, TWIST Gallery, and others. Elena has also participated in art shows in Mississauga and in the Art in the Credit Tour.
